Enrollment at Kinhaven begins in February for the following academic year.* First, we conduct internal registration for current students, their siblings, and alumni families. Then, working first from the waiting list, we begin external registration.

How the Waiting List Works

There is a $25 fee to be placed on the Waiting List. The Waiting List for the 2008-09 school year will consist of those children who have not been placed during the current year (the 2007-08 list for the 2's classes becomes the 2008-09 list for the 3's classes), followed by all other applicants. Waiting List forms submitted between January 1st and the February 4, 2008, Open House will be ordered by lottery, and those forms will then be appended to the end of the current year's list. Forms received after the lottery will be placed at the end of the age-appropriate list. If a child is placed in a class and has a sibling on a separate list, that sibling will rise to the top of his or her list.

Registration

As external registration proceeds, parents who turn down a slot for any reason may ask for their child to remain on the Waiting List, but the child will be moved to the end of the age-appropriate list. Parents may register a child for an available class, and then wait list the child internally for a different class (i.e., a child registered for 3 days per week who really wants 2 would then be next in line should a 2-day slot become available). Registrants must complete an enrollment form and submit a $50 registration fee at the time of enrollment. Further forms and a deposit, consisting of the June 2009 tuition, will be due in early June 2008. Openings are filled as they arise during the spring, summer, and academic year.

Tours

Kinhaven offers tours every week on Tuesdays and Fridays. Tours begin at 10:00 a.m. and last approximately 30 minutes to one hour. Kinhaven is located at 4201 N. Fairfax Drive, across from the Ballston Metro at Central United Methodist Church. *Enrollment for the summer program is conducted separately in the spring. Attendance in the summer program is independent of the academic year, and does not result in any preference for placement in the academic year.
