Enrollment at Kinhaven begins in February for the following academic year.*
First, we conduct internal registration for current students, their siblings,
and alumni families. Then, working first from the waiting list, we
begin external registration.
All currently enrolled students EXCEPT PDO children are guaranteed placement in an age-appropriate class for the following year. PDO attendees receive priority placement over new registrants, subject to space availability in age-appropriate classes.
How the
Waiting List Works
There is a $25 fee per child to be placed on the Waiting List.
The Waiting List for the 2011-12 school year will
consist of those children who have not been placed
during the current year (the 2010-11 list for the 2's
classes becomes the 2011-12 list for the 3's classes),
followed by all other applicants. Waiting List forms are accepted on a rolling basis throughout the year; there is no lottery.
If a child is placed in a class and has a sibling on a
separate list, that sibling will rise to the top of
his or her list.
A family may refuse an offer of enrollment one time and remain on the Wait List. If a family declines a second offer, they must pay a $15 fee to remain on the Wait List. In either of these cases, the child is rotated to the bottom of the Wait List.
Applicants for the Next Academic Year (2011-2012) will be placed at the end of the Wait List for the age group of the child, and will move up as space becomes available, but will not be offered any mid-year openings during the current academic year.

Registration
Parents
may register a child for an available class, and then wait list the child
internally for a different class (i.e., a child registered for 3 days
per week who really wants 2 would then be next in line should a 2-day
slot become available). Registrants must complete enrollment forms
and submit an annual $50 registration fee at the time of enrollment. (Registration of additional children within the same family is $35 per child.) A deposit, consisting of the June tuition, is due upon enrollment for mid-year enrollees, or due in March for next-academic-year enrollees. Openings are filled as they arise during the
entire year.
*Enrollment
for the summer program is conducted separately in the spring. Attendance
in the summer program is independent of the academic year, and does
not result in any preference for placement in the academic year.
