Junior Kindergarten (JK) Program
Kinhaven's JK program is designed to
meet the growing need in the community for an
enriching, pre-academic environment for older fours
and children who have turned five but need the gift
of time before entering Kindergarten. The JK class
has a maximum of ten children with one teacher. This
smaller class size fosters a cohesive group while
meeting the individual needs of each child. A
variety of concrete learning experiences including
dramatic-play, science activitites, field trips and
work with pre-math and reading and writing materials
are offered.
"Afternoon Adventures" Available for
Three and Older
Kinhaven is pleased to be able to
offer enrichment activities several afternoons a
week. Availability varies according to parent
interest, and space is limited. Please inquire.
Children enrolled in afternoon enrichment classes
must be potty-trained.

Kinhaven
JOBS
At Kinhaven
School, each member-family is part of our team
working to give our children a wonderful
preschool experience. Our contributions make
Kinhaven not just a preschool, but a
community. To fulfill our mission, each
Kinhaven family is required to have a JOB
responsibility.
There are a
variety of duties, big and small, that aid our
school and help make it a special place. A
Kinhaven family’s member obligation to the
School consists of five essential functions:
- abiding by its
policies and procedures;
- remaining in
good standing with the Treasurer;
- offering three
productive hours to one of the school’s
fundraising efforts;
- actively
participating in one of the Saturday Cleanup and
Maintenance Days for three hours;
- and finally,
fulfilling its JOB responsibility.
Families who
fulfill their member obligations are eligible
to register their child(ren) for the following
school year.
The jobs at
Kinhaven are broken down into the following
service areas: Administrative Services,
Building
& Grounds; Finance, Food &Health,
Fundraising, Hospitality, Membership, and
Personnel.
Additionally,
there are elected positions to the Board of
Directors.
